Privacy Policy

Plain-English summary
PowerToolBench is built to minimize the data we collect about you. At the time of this writing:
- We do not run any third-party advertising.
- We do not set tracking cookies.
- We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and does not identify individual visitors.
- We may earn affiliate commissions when you click outbound retailer links, but the tracking happens on the retailer’s side after you leave our site — not ours.
If and when this changes — for example, if we add an email newsletter or display ads — we will update this page and add a cookie consent banner per GDPR / CCPA before any new tracking begins.
What we collect
Analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics)
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-first analytics service that:
- Does not use cookies
- Does not fingerprint individual visitors
- Aggregates traffic data (page views, referrer, country, device class) without identifying individuals
- Stores no IP addresses in identifiable form
This means we know things like “X visitors came from Reddit this week to the M18 vs FLEXVOLT page” without knowing which specific person you are. We use this only to understand which content is useful and which pages need updates.
Server logs (Cloudflare edge)
Cloudflare, our hosting provider, maintains short-term edge logs for security and abuse detection (DDoS protection, bot mitigation). These logs are governed by Cloudflare’s privacy policy and are not accessible to PowerToolBench beyond aggregate counters.
Email correspondence
If you email us at [email protected], your message and email address are stored in our mailbox so we can reply. We do not add these emails to any marketing list. We delete the message thread once the conversation is resolved unless we need it for a corrections log entry.
What we do NOT collect
- No tracking cookies (we don’t set any cookies at this writing)
- No advertising identifiers
- No cross-site tracking pixels
- No fingerprinting
- No personal information forms (no signup, no profile, no comments at launch)
Outbound affiliate links
When you click a retailer link on this site (marked (affiliate link)), you leave PowerToolBench and arrive at the retailer’s website. At that point:
- The retailer’s own cookies and tracking apply (per their privacy policy)
- The retailer’s affiliate network (Awin, Impact, CJ, Amazon Associates, etc.) may record the click for commission attribution
- We learn only the aggregate fact that “someone clicked through to retailer X” — not who you are
We have no visibility into what you do on the retailer’s site. We do not see your purchase amount, your name, your shipping address, your payment method, or any other personal data from your purchase.
Cookies
At this writing, PowerToolBench sets no cookies of any kind. Cloudflare may set a strictly-necessary cookie for DDoS / security purposes (typically __cf_bm or cf_clearance). These are exempted from consent requirements under GDPR and CCPA as “strictly necessary” cookies.
If we add features in the future that require cookies (newsletter signup, ad personalization), we will:
- Update this policy with the specific cookies and their purposes
- Deploy a cookie consent banner that lets you accept, reject, or customize cookie usage
- Honor the choice you make before any non-essential cookies are set
Your rights
Under GDPR (European Economic Area, UK)
- Right to access: request a copy of any personal data we hold about you
- Right to rectification: request that incorrect data be corrected
- Right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”): request deletion of your data
- Right to restrict processing
- Right to object to processing
- Right to data portability
- Right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
Because we collect minimal data, most of these requests will result in us confirming “we hold no personal data about you.” If we hold an email thread you started, that is what we would return.
Under CCPA (California)
- Right to know what categories of personal information we collect and how it is used
- Right to delete personal information collected about you
- Right to opt-out of any “sale” of personal information (PowerToolBench does not sell personal information)
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising any CCPA right
To exercise any right above, email [email protected] with your request. We respond within 30 days.
Children
PowerToolBench is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page whenever this policy changes. Material changes (new data collection, new cookies, new third-party services) will be announced via a visible notice on the homepage for at least 30 days.
